Visit Bonita Springs

June 4, 2012 by Mary Lamphere

You’ll find several key points of interest and attractions around Bonita Springs. While Bonita Beach Park and Barefoot Beach Preserve Park are the main natural attractions in the area, Bonita Springs is also home to some cultural attractions and sporting venues. If it’s your first time visiting the area, consider hiring a tour guide or working with a travel agent to map out an itinerary that includes some of the top Bonita Springs attractions.

Art lovers can make their way to several art galleries and museums scattered around the coast. Popular destinations include Jen Connors’ Arts, Horgar Framing Inc., and the Pictures Galore gallery. You can also see some unique displays and exhibits at the Grand Luxe Marine.

A fun way to explore the area is to take one of the Earth Trek Tours or the Ghost Tours of Fort Myers nearby. These guided tours will take you to several natural sites and unique points of interest in and around Bonita Springs.

Spend a few hours exploring the Bonita Spring Historical Society which houses a large collection of photos and exhibits of an era gone by. This attraction is a great place to learn more about the area and see some photos of the small town and community over the years.

If you’re traveling with kids, you won’t want to miss a trip to the Everglades Wonder Garden. This animal park, garden, nature preserve, and zoo is a must-see destination for animal lovers of all ages. Spend the afternoon at the Providence Equestrian Center to ride some of the beautiful horses and enjoy the natural scenery on horseback. This can be a fun way to explore the area regardless of your age.

Another family-friendly destination in Bonita Springs is the Palace Arcades, a theme park that caters to the young and old. A full service arcade that features games that are both new age and of course classics too, Palace Arcades is a great way to spend a rainy day or to get out of the sun after a long day at the beach.

And of course, you can spend some time at the Bonita Springs Beach Park and the Barefoot Beach and nature area. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to go boating, enjoy some fun in the sun, and also explore some of the beautiful sites around the coastline.  The park is one of the best places in all of Florida to watch the sunset and those crumbled shells along the coast, although difficult to walk through, create beautiful hues when the sun begins to set along the Gulf of Mexico.
