It has dropped the “Le” and the “The” and is now simply, serenely, and beautifully Christopher. It really is one of St. Barth’s grande dames and it begins this decade refurbished to its past 4 star glory days – and then some. Poised out on a promontory in chi-chi Pointe Milou, the sound of the surf provides the perfect score to breathtaking panoramic views. Guests settled in poolside on the comfy lounges, gaze out at the neighboring islands and look as pleased as well, Ti Punch.
Oh, that pool - lusciously large and infinity-edged it meanders along the waterfront and seems to merge with the sea. It is banked with plush lounging beds, and a little “pool island” - complete with palm trees – is a primo spot to see and be seen while sunbathing.
Christopher’s two restaurants have kept their names but old friends would hardly know them. Mango – the pool bar and feet-in-the-sand-informal restaurant - is bigger - and shall we say better? We will. Sixteen lucky patrons can now belly up to the bar for un coupe de Champagne, and it’s the perfect spot to dally over lunch. The menu includes some of the BBQ favorites of yore, and lots of exciting new items. Go ahead, sit down and relax and order a cold Carib or a tropical cocktail. You’re on vacation. Restaurant cum lounge Taïno has had its space redefined, opening it to the sea. It’s very St. Barth with a casually elegant ambiance and divine food. A full buffet breakfast is served here each morning and we recommend their homemade yogurt.
The hotel has a total of 41 rooms housed in four pretty two-storied buildings; slate-roofed and white-sided they arc above the dramatic rocky coastline. Between rooms and suites, there are loads of accommodation choices, and all have either a private terrace or balcony. Poolside units are adjacent to lush tropical gardens and we love the chicly refurbished Deluxe Ocean View rooms boasting gorgeous vistas of the sea. So romantic.
