Discover the colorful culture of Nubia, one of Africa's oldest civilizations, on this 3-hour small-group boat trip to Sohail Island. Traveling by felucca sailboat or modern motorboat, you'll meet locals, visit a traditional house, drink tea, and have free time to explore villages independently.
Expect pickup from your central Aswan hotel or Nile cruise ship by 2:30pm: precise timings will be confirmed after booking.
From here, you'll be transferred to the jetty where you'll hop aboard a boat for your Nile voyage. Depending on weather and river conditions, you'll travel either by traditional felucca sailing boat or by a modern motorboat.
It's a short but scenic voyage to Sohail Island, which is home to three distinct Nubian villages: you'll pass Elephantine Island, with its ruins and nilometer, on the way. Here you'll visit a traditional Nubian house and learn about the culture, history, and lifestyle of one of Africa's oldest civilizations as you sip tea.
After this, there's free time to wander through the brilliantly colored villages, admire the decorations on the houses, and chat to friendly locals before you board your craft to return to Aswan. You'll be back at base around 5:30pm.
