The Angsa Villas: A Cliffside Hideaway on Bali’s Quiet East Coast

Staying in a villa in Bali is a dream! Private pool. Bathtubs with a full window view of the rice fields and jungle. Full-access kitchen to cook your favorite meals. The peaceful mornings with the sunrays beaming through the trees. The wind chimes playing a gentle song. The dragonflies, hummingbirds, geckos, and butterflies stopping by to say hello. Flowers and plants in full bloom. The sounds of the wind blowing through the garden and ceremony music in the distance by day, and the sounds of the frogs croaking and cicadas chirping by night.

I’ve lived in Bali on and off for 2 years and have experienced the best and the worst that accommodations have to offer. Some stays look amazing but feel completely different once you arrive. Maybe the location is noisy, the “private” villa feels anything but private, the pool isn’t as pristine as the pictures suggest, or the surrounding area is packed with tourists, construction, and traffic. And then there are the rare places that somehow manage to deliver exactly what you hoped for, with beautiful surroundings, thoughtful details, genuine privacy, and that feeling of being completely removed from the outside world. The Angsa Villas are one of those places.

About The Angsa Villas

The Angsa Villas are tucked away from the busier pockets of Bali, in a northeastern town called Amed. It’s a fishing village that brought in the hype of tourists, especially divers, seeking a combination of beach and jungle atmosphere. Still, it is less developed than the more popular southwestern beach towns on the island, giving the feeling of modern meets old Bali. At Angsa Villas, there are just 4 luxury units situated on the cliffside with unobstructed views facing the junction of the Badung Strait, the Bali Sea, and the Indian Ocean. Each unit has its own configuration, depending on your needs.

Two rentals sit higher up, with ocean views stretching above the rooftops of the two lower villas. One is a one-bedroom villa and the other is a two-bedroom, each with its own distinct floor plan. The remaining two villas sit directly parallel to the sea, with infinity pools seemingly merging with the horizon. These two are architectural twins, offering an identical setup and overall aesthetic.

What It’s Actually Like to Stay Here

It feels less like a traditional vacation rental and more like your own private retreat in the middle of the tropics. There’s no lobby, no crowds, and no constant hum of tourists coming and going…just a few quiet villas surrounded by greenery, with the ocean nearby and the landscape unfolding around you. It’s the kind of place where you quickly fall into a slower rhythm. Mornings start with coffee overlooking the sunrise with a floating breakfast, afternoons are made for lingering in the pool, and evenings arrive with a short drive to local restaurants for a fresh catch of the day and finish with a massage right on the villa property.

Not only is the atmosphere tranquil and luxurious, but the staff is also extremely responsive and helpful to assist in whatever you need during your stay…whether you need help with your bags, organizing tours and massages, providing a full floating pool breakfast or other meals, recommendations on what to explore and do, and more. There is nothing shy of quality, top service at The Angsa Villas.

Why It’s Worth Booking

After spending years traveling around Bali and trying accommodations across the island, I’ve learned that luxury isn’t always about how many amenities a property has. Sometimes, it’s simply having the space, privacy, and peace to feel like you’ve temporarily disappeared from the rest of the world.
