A survey involving 32,500 respondents across 35 countries and territories, combined with analysis of aggregated accommodation search data, recently revealed that Fort Myers, Florida, is the top trending fall destination, according to Booking.com.
The online travel company reports that 41% of U.S. travelers are planning trips for the upcoming off-season, with many looking to avoid big crowds and find a better value. Searches for the city have increased more than 215% over last year, more than any other destination in the nation.
Why Visit Fort Myers This Fall?
With fall outside the peak tourist season, fewer crowds and lower rates are two of the biggest reasons travelers are focused on Fort Myers, but there are plenty of others.
The Beaches
Fort Myers is renowned for its soft, powdery sand beaches and turquoise waters. With fall temperatures averaging in the 80s, the pleasantly warm weather is ideal for spending time on seven-mile-long Fort Myers Beach. VisitFlorida.com calls it “paradise heaped with sugar sand.” Visitors can take part in water sports like paddleboarding or simply relax beneath an umbrella, breathe in the salty sea air, and gaze out at the endless vibrant blue.
Families with kids might head to Lynn Hall Memorial Park. It includes a sandy beach, a pier for fishing, and a playground for the little ones. The four barrier islands between Fort Myers and Bonita Beach, part of Lovers Key, are easily accessible too. Boardwalks make it easy to explore the two miles of pristine sands. Shell collector?
