Jamaica is known worldwide for beautiful jungles, waterfalls and streams that lure thousands of visitors each year. In fact, the Rabbit Hole has recently caused a stir online with many adventurers documenting their jump into the hole on YouTube and Instagram.

Journey to Reach Falls in Portland Parish, Jamaica

The Rabbit Hole is located in scenic Reach Falls, a wide and rounded waterfall system that rushes 10 meters (33 feet) down a rock face into an emerald pool. The many cascades, smaller waterfalls and underwater cave make this natural wonder especially stunning and unique. Nestled in the Montane Forest on the foothills of the John Crow Mountains, Reach Falls was first discovered by runaway slaves who sought the area for refuge. It has since been featured in Hollywood films like Tom Cruise’s Cocktails and the remake of Lord of the Flies. The area has many rare bird species and wild pigs to see as well!

You can drive to this remote gem from Port Antonio, a coastal town on Jamaica’s east side. Once you arrive, you’ll be met by a lifeguard who will show you the best diving sites and secret spots. Bring your own swimwear, water shoes, towels and snacks, as this area is off the beaten path. Try to go on a “closed” day with a tour guide, because that way you’ll have the place pretty much to yourself.
