Where Fido Checks In Too: Florida’s Top Pet-Friendly Beach Stays

According to data shared by Dogster, 78% of American pet parents travel with their pets each year. I’m one of them. There’s nothing more fun than having my furbaby along for the ride. Luckily, we have some pretty cool spots here in Florida where she can go.

While there are several pet-friendly beach hotels in Florida, there are some that go above and beyond to make your four-legged best friend feel like a VIP. Here are a few of the best beach hotels to consider if you’re looking for a pawsitively purrfect vacation with your furry best friend.

The Betsy Hotel – South Beach

Pet Perks: Pets get a special welcome treat when they arrive. They can also join you for dinner at one of their onsite restaurants—LT Steak & Seafood or The Alley.

Overview: The Betsy hotel is located in South Beach’s Art Deco District and has gone to the dogs—literally. The two CEOs (Canine Executive Officers), Betsy and Rosa, are legends in Miami Beach. There’s a good possibility you’ll meet the two CEOs while you’re there. The two Golden Retrievers even have their own beer that was created by a local brewery, so make sure you try their special beverage when you visit. Other perks of staying there include direct beach access, beach chairs, an umbrella, and sunrise yoga.

Good to Know

  • Dogs and cats are allowed, but larger dogs over 40 pounds need special clearance when you make your reservation.
  • There’s no pet fee if you book directly with The Betsy.
  • If you book through a third party, though, there’s a $150 pet fee, and 50% of that goes to Miami-Dade Animal Rescue and the SPCA in Zimbabwe, the childhood home of one of The Betsy’s owners.

Insider Tip: This is a hotel full of art, and there’s one gallery you don’t want to miss. The Underground Gallery is where you can see the amazing work of Carlos Andres Cruz, a professional dog photographer from Bogota, Colombia. He’s perfectly captured the dogs of The Betsy, and it’s an exhibit that any dog lover will certainly appreciate.

Overview: Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club is a pet-friendly, oceanfront hotel on Miami Beach’s Collins Avenue, and you’ll enjoy the architecture both inside and around the hotel. It has been around since 1940 and is a staple of Miami. The rooms have been modernized since then, though, and have a Mediterranean-style vibe. For the swankiest views, consider booking the Cadillac Suite, a spacious room with a terrace that measures 1,100 square feet.
