With tens of thousands of hotels worldwide, it’s no easy feat to make The World’s 50 Best Hotels list, but Desa Potato Head Bali was recently announced as one of the top picks at a live countdown in Paris.
Created by The 50 Best Hotels Academy, a group with over 800 independent leaders selected for their expert opinions of the international hotel scene, 2026 was the fourth consecutive year that the stunning Bali hotel took its place among the world’s leading hotels.

Desa Potato Head Bali operates like a village built on creativity with a philosophy of “Good Times, Do Good.” Its approach focuses on carbon neutrality, waste reduction, community-led initiatives, and regenerative tourism, so guests can feel good about their stay while enjoying a variety of experiences.
The property hosts art, music, and cultural programming through a combination of entertainment, cultural spaces, and restaurants. It introduced its Cultural Exchange Series just this year. Sunset Park is the place to go for sipping rooftop cocktails, while Kaum stands out by celebrating Indonesian archipelago flavors. Its dishes, inspired by local recipes, include signature small plates and heritage mains highlighting local, small-scale farming and regional cooking traditions.
The Accommodations
Desa Potato Head features two primary accommodation choices: the more compact, design-forward Potato Head Studios with views overlooking the inner village or bamboo courtyard, and the extra-spacious, high-end Potato Head Suites. The suites come with additional perks like an Anjat Beach Set that includes a hat woven by the indigenous Dayak people from Borneo. Some have private jacuzzis, rooftop gardens, or direct ocean views.
Both the studios and suites blend modern luxuries and sustainable architecture with a relaxed vibe, a cool feature wall, and beautiful tapestries. Focusing on environmental friendliness, all rooms include zero-waste kits with bamboo cutlery and refillable essentials like all-natural sunscreen.
