The Beach Destinations Everyone’s Booking This Winter, According to Airbnb

Airbnb just published its report on emerging destinations that are redefining winter travel this season. While Italy is leading the pack, thanks at least in part to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, two trending beach destinations stand out: Cordoba, Colombia, and Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand

We revealed our own top beach destinations for warm winter sun recently for those who want to stick a bit closer to home, but if you’re looking for something more exotic, read on. While Cordoba and Prachaup Khiri Khan may not be places you’ve considered, there are plenty of reasons why you should.

Located in the Costa Caribe region just east of the Colombia-Panama border along the Caribbean coast, Cordoba is home to charming towns with picturesque beaches, tropical islands, and cities with magnificent architecture. While it’s long been a hidden gem, an increasing number of travelers are discovering its many delights, yet you’re unlikely to encounter any crowds.

Many visitors to Cordoba head right to the coast to places like San Antero, home to Playa Blanca. It offers soft ivory sands and a tranquil environment, less commercialized as compared to some of the options in the area, like Covenas and Tolu, with calm turquoise waters ideal for swimming. Vendors sell fruits, sweet treats, and refreshments like water and beer to enjoy while relaxing among the striking natural beauty.

Winters in Cordoba are mild, not nearly as hot and humid as the summer, with the average high temperature in the mid-80s. It’s just about perfect for enjoying time on the sand and in the sea, as well as hiking nearby mangrove forests, and exploring the local culture.

The small town of Prachuap Khiri Khan is a less-visited destination that mostly attracts Thai tourists who come to enjoy the peaceful ambiance for soaking up the sun. You’ll find it about 125 miles south of Bangkok in the northern region of the Malay Peninsula, just 6.2 miles from the border of Myanmar. Winter is the best time to visit, with the days not as humid and the average high temperature about 87 degrees.

Hua Hin is among the area’s most enticing beaches, stretching for over 12 miles with soft, nearly uninterrupted sands and a prominent rocky mountain marking its southern end. The aquamarine water is typically calm and safe for swimming, and you’ll find several seafood eateries and accommodation options right here. Snorkeling is outstanding with the opportunity to admire diverse marine life like angelfish and clownfish, and explore vibrant coral reefs that include mushroom and staghorn corals.

Beyond the beach, there are cultural sites to explore, such as the hilltop Khao Chong Krajok Temple with a large Buddha statue and the unique Phraya Nakhon Cave. Scenic hiking trails wind through the jungle nearby with opportunities for spotting the abundant wildlife. Only a short distance inland, Kuiburi National Park is inhabited by everything from Asian elephants to gibbons and langurs.
