See Why Maroon 5 is Heading to Curaçao This August

Between the sand, sea and sun, the Caribbean is without a doubt one of the most ideal vacation destinations in the world. However, sometimes you need an excuse to pay the islands a visit—that is, other than your strong desire to park yourself on a beach and not depart until your blood pressure drops a few notches.

Good news: if you love music and live for the festival scene, the Caribbean makes for a killer music pilgrimage with one of the most intrinsically relaxed atmospheres out there. This August, the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival kicks off with a spectacular lineup.

Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival 2019

Music tourism—the phrase coined for the practice of traveling for music festivals and concerts—isn’t a new concept, but with the seemingly limitless popularity of annual music-centered events like Coachella and Burning Man, this trend is undoubtedly on the rise. Still, even with events like Carnival in Trinidad, the Caribbean flies under the radar when it comes to the music and festival scene.

Events like the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival are proof that there are few better places if you love letting your hair down and dancing to music that moves your soul. (Though Curaçao celebrates Carnival, too!)

Despite its name, the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival is more than just jazz—much more, in fact. Jazz enthusiasts and non-jazz-lovers alike enjoy this festival. Last year’s Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival featured big-time acts as varied as Daddy Yankee, Ceelo Green, Patti LaBelle, Christina Aguilera, Burt Bacharach, KC and the Sunshine Band, Jason Derulo and more. In 2019, the lineup is even better with “Girls Like You” artist, Maroon 5, led by heartthrob Adam Levine, Puerto Rican Reggaeton artist Ozuna, Grammy award-winner Gladys Knight and reggae fusion band Third World. Acts are steadily being announced as the months go on, so stay tuned on the festival site for the full program.

From jazz legends to top rap and hip-hop artists, tickets to the three-night Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival provide not only a chance to see major acts and stellar performances but also a relaxing Caribbean vacation. Music festival + relaxed getaway to the Caribbean? Sign us up!

The Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival typically has three stages set up with back-to-back performances. In between your favorite acts, you can sample food from a variety of vendors, including tropical drinks, traditional eats of Curaçao, desserts and good, old-fashioned fair food.

Things to Do During the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival

The Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival takes place over the course of three nights, with the earliest acts not kicking off until sunset. This format allows visitors to spend their days wandering the island in search of adventure and unbeatable beach days.

Fortunately, there’s a lot to do in Curaçao: whether you’re into cliff diving, trying a bite of iguana, staging the perfect shot for Instagram, hitting up picturesque beaches or swimming with sea turtles in the wild, Curaçao has something for everyone.
