This Tulum Restaurant Checks All Our Beach Dream Boxes

A beach vacation to Tulum is no doubt full of lounging in Bali beds, sipping craft cocktails and indulging in one of the hottest eco-chic hotel scenes. As one of the hippest beach destinations in Mexico, Tulum is full of hidden gems.

Diamante K in Tulum, Mexico

Literally named ‘Diamond K,” Diamante K is one such gem that sparkles above the rest. This beach hotel and restaurant sits right on the water in Tulum along the road that leads to the Tulum ruins. It’s an Instagrammable wonder laden with palm trees, hammocks and peace-inducing decor everywhere you look—and that’s before you see the ocean backdrop! And the best part, it’s open to the public!

Tulum Ruins & Getting to Diamante K

We recommend renting bicycles for the day and riding to Diamante K, as most hotels in Tulum offer bicycle rentals along with many independent shops. Since Diamante K is just down the road from the Tulum ruins (1.7 miles to be exact), it makes for an easy lunch stop before or after visiting the ruins. The Tulum ruins sit right on the beach, making them a perfect spot for both a photo op and a calm dip in the ocean. Accessing the ruins and beach costs 40 pesos plus an additional 30 pesos for video cameras and it’s open daily from 8 am to 5 pm.

Oceanfront Dining at Diamante K

Immediately on arrival, you’ll be blown away by the boho-chic decor and natural construction that seamlessly blends in with the beachfront location. Buddha statues, fringe hammocks and swaying palm trees greet you as you find your way to Casa Maria, the on-site restaurant. Find a wooden table along the ocean and take a load off as you wait for a friendly server to greet you.

During happy hour, Casa Maria offers two for one margaritas, mojitos and piña coladas, all of which are to die for, but we recommend the margs. The extensive menu offers everything from chips & guacamole and tacos to pizza and salads—all with authentic Mexican flair of course. After a few hours of sun-soaked exploration, the Cebiche Mexican Recipe hits the spot—it’s a refreshing ceviche dish made with your choice of seafood mixed with lime juice, cilantro and tomato. For dessert, indulge in a mezcal tasting. If dining at Casa Maria works into your plans as a dinner spot instead of lunch, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better sunset view.

Diamante K offers 30 unique cabins, all with mosquito nets, fans and electricity 24 hours per day. Plus, the on-site spa offers a variety of massages for the perfect after-beach treat.
